I studied software engineering != I do software engineering.
And let me tell you something… They are not the same thing. Like, not even close. Software engineering in class is calm. Clean diagrams and algorithms. Everything has a solution. Everything fits into a design pattern. You learn what usually works. You learn how systems should behave. But real world software engineering: It's noise. It's chaos. It's late nights debugging. It's nothing going according to spec. No one prepares you for the mess. - The legacy code. - The way users break things you thought were bulletproof. - The way instinct beats documentation. I used to sit in lectures with my brain full of theory… Then walk into production and want to rewrite everything. Not out of disrespect. But because some of us were never meant to follow frameworks blindly. Some of us want to experiment before we architect. To profile before we optimize. To break things in staging, and learn by debugging. Studying made me methodical. Building made me resilient. And I wouldn't change that for any thing! And here's the real lesson: → You'll never fully understand anything until you ship it. Books will teach you structure. But real production teaches you adaptability. Don't be afraid to learn by coding. To refactor. To break things. To start over. That's where the growth is hiding
