“Your fancy college degree is not enough.”
That headline stopped me dead in my tracks... and made me rethink everything. Ouch. But also — truth. I’m currently in school, working hard, genuinely proud of what I’m learning. But lately I’ve been asking myself: Am I preparing to graduate… or preparing for the world of work? Because the world isn’t waiting for another certificate holder. It’s looking for builders, thinkers, communicators, and adapters. Even LinkedIn’s CEO, Ryan Roslansky, said the future belongs to those who are: → AI-literate → Emotionally intelligent → Adaptable → Strong communicators Not just the ones with the fanciest degrees. A 2024 Microsoft survey even found that 71% of business leaders would prefer an AI-skilled candidate with less experience over one with more experience and no AI skills. So, I made a shift. Now I’m: Building projects — even when they’re not perfect Asking uncomfortable questions Connecting with others in tech Sharing my work, even before it’s "ready" Learning and failing out loud Your degree might get you in the room. But your skills, mindset, and ability to grow? That’s what keeps you there. AI won’t replace us. But people who can use AI — and still communicate with empathy — definitely will. If you're wondering if you're doing “enough”... You are. Just don’t stop here. #SkillsOverDegrees
