My experience as a 3rd year computer science student on attachment
That $200 ZWL internship "salary" hit different when I realized it couldn't even cover my transport costs. Let me paint you a picture of industrial attachment reality: 4:00 AM - Alarm goes off (yes, 4 AM) 4:30 AM - First kombi of the day 5:30 AM - Second kombi (if I'm lucky to catch one) 6:30 AM - Finally at work, exhausted before the day starts 8:00 PM - Drag myself home, repeat tomorrow For 3 straight months. The "salary"? Barely enough to get me to work the next day. Lunch? Air pies became my best friend Here's what nobody tells you about work-related learning: What you THINK you'll get: • Decent salary to support yourself • Comfortable working conditions • Immediate recognition of your skills What you ACTUALLY get: • Transport money (if you're lucky) • A masterclass in humility • Stories that will make you laugh years later • Skills worth more than any paycheck That internship broke me down completely... But it also built me up in ways I never expected. I learned to hustle before I learned to earn. I learned resilience before I learned comfort. I learned gratitude before I learned entitlement. To every student about to start their attachment: Go in with ZERO salary expectations. Your real payment is the experience, connections, and work ethic you'll develop. The money will come later. The lessons? Those are priceless. Drop a if your attachment/internship humbled you too, or share your wildest attachment story below - let's compare notes! PS: Me having a soda for lunch on attachment

This is our reality. The allowances are not enough but the experience is more than enough.

But we need both
