From Try Again to PASS: GRADUATE

In 2009, I was in Grade Two.

I recently looked at an old school report and saw words that took me back: “Not good,” “Try harder,” “Try again,” “Keep trying.” I was ranked 29th out of 35, and my teacher wrote that I had failed the tests, struggled to read, and needed help with my homework.

At that time, nobody could have looked at that report and known where my journey would take me.

Years later, I found myself at university, pursuing a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Business Marketing Informatics.

And eventually, the words on my results were:

PASS: GRADUATE.
DEGREE CLASS: 2.1.

Looking at these two documents side by side reminded me of something important: an early struggle is not a prediction of your future.

Sometimes you are simply in the beginning of your story.

The child who was told to try harder eventually did.

The child who struggled to read eventually wrote a dissertation.

The child who was ranked 29th eventually graduated from university.

I didn't have everything figured out. I just kept going.

“Try again” became “I made it.”

If you're struggling right now, don't let one result, one opinion, or one difficult chapter convince you that you cannot make it.

Keep trying. Your current chapter is not your whole story.
