They’ll test you on Portuguese grammar—but never ask if you can stop a seizure, plug a wound, or restart a heart. Since when are foreign languages more vital than breathing? Since when is conjugation worth more than survival? First aid isn’t just a skill—it’s the only exam where failure means a coffin." _____________________________________ THE HARD TRUTH 1⃣ TERTIARY PRIORITIES: - Our universities force students to learn French, Chinese, Portuguese, German - Yet only medical students are taught first aid—the one skill every citizen needs - How many lives could a lawyer who knows CPR have saved? How many accidents could a teacher trained in bleeding control have prevented? 2⃣ STORIES THAT HAUNT US: - The farmer who bled out because no one knew how to make a tourniquet from a shirt - The mother who drowned in her own blood after a car crash while bystanders filmed instead of tilting her airway - The child who stopped breathing during a seizure—and the panicked crowd that didn’t know pediatric CPR 3⃣ A UNITED ZIMBABWE Imagine: - A street vendor stabilizes a car crash victim before ambulances arrive - Minibus conductors carry first aid kits instead of relying on "miracles" - University students protest with bandages, not just banners—healing while demanding change ______________________________________ WHY FIRST AID UNITES US - No tribal lines: Blood is the same color in Harare and Bulawayo - No class divide: The rich and poor alike choke, bleed, collapse - National pride: A country that trains its people to save lives is a country that values its people ______________________________________ OUR DEMAND Mandatory first aid education in ALL schools—primary to university ⏳10 minutes weekly is all it takes to learn skills that last a lifetime A national ethos: "Every Zimbabwean is a first responder" "They forced us to learn French verbs—but no verb conjugates a dying man's breath. We memorized Chinese characters—but can't read the panic in a choking child's eyes. FIRST AID is the only language that saves Zimbabweans."
