Behind the 32 Distinctions: Rumbidzai Chibizhe’s Journey
Rumbidzai Chibizhe: Starting my first year at UZ as a female student of Computational Economics Degree was quite a journey with academic challenges, family background challenges and pressure from other students. Who knew that one day this ordinary girl from Mutatiri Pry Sch in Masvingo, to Mwanza Sec Sch in Murewa, to Chemhondoro High Sch and finally UZ would end up at the top as the overall best female undergraduate student at UZ with 32 Distinctions out of 42 modules. I'm now a Computational Economics degree holder awarded with a First Class degree and a book prize. With the outstanding performance, she received the golden handshake from H.E the President of Zimbabwe, a photoshoot with H.E and a Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa Chancellor's award. I'm still in disbelief that this actually happened to me. I did my internship at POTRAZ in the Economics, Tariffs and Competition department, that's where I was nurtured and acquired different skills in this field. I always didn't have confidence in myself as I think there are many students who outperform me. But this milestone has made me realise that With God nothing is impossible. All the sleepless nights, hardworking and effort really paid off with so much unexpected recognition at the end. All I wish for is for this achievement not to go in vain but the sky to be the limit. To my fellow colleagues and other young ladies out there, it's possible to reach greater heights given you don't look down upon yourself, work hard, and put God first in everything. Once again I'm so honored and special thanks to my mentors, parents, pastors, sponsors and everyone who contributed to making this possible.

What an incredible journey, it needs to be celebrated for it is a source of inspiration to us and especially the girl child
