A Day in My Life as a Mechanical Engineering Student
So I just watched a video posted by a friend from our Aeronautical Department. She was talking about the 'rapture' and how the signs for the predestined end times have become overwhelmingly obvious. She asked a very curious question, "If the day is today and the rapture is to begin now, do you think you will go?" Well, do you? Anyway, I've noticed that in this day and age, people our age have become excessively dependent on what the next person does so that they make their decision. An obsession with the 'trend' has developed where people generally consider you peculiar and unnatural if you go your own path doing stuff in your own time without any regard for societal convention. I call it the 'Mainstream Fever Complex'. In light of this, I would just like to mention that we should set our standards. The kind of bottom lines that will not be crossed regardless of what's at stake. On the final day, we don't how it will go or criterion by which people will be chosen but I imagine it won't go something like, "Because you were influenced by this person, you're exempted." Just like life, whatever you lose because of the decisions you've made without any deep thought, the consequences will be for you and you alone. Better to be wrong for decisions you made with your own judgement because you truly believed yourself to be right than because of outside influence. I always talk about perspective or relativity and how it fits in the difference in viewpoints depending on position, but that's a topic for another article. I just hope we're all living with clear a conscience out there, knowing the possible effects and results of the decisions we make today.
